OUR AIMS: While we see our main task as providing the best academic education possible for each of our pupils while giving them a wide range of extra-curricular activities designed to develop whatever talents each may have, we are also very conscious that we are sending them out into a rapidly changing, often confusing and highly competitive world.
We want them to go out into this world as young men and women who are civilised, tolerant, open-minded, enquiring, humane and ambitious to do well in their chosen careers while retaining a lively concern for the welfare of their fellows. They must be balanced individuals and good citizens.
Our academic results have improved dramatically in recent years: in 1993 the school was placed at the top of the HMC Improvement League as a consequence of its 'A' level results, and in 1994 we achieved second place in this national measure of performance. The specialisation of 'A' level study in the 6th Form is complemented by optional GCSE's, such as Psychology. GCSE results are excellent. Information Technology is seen as a skill to be used across the curriculum and several initiatives are underway in this field.
Sutton Valence is a beautiful, safe and uplifting environment. The school is small with a strong sense of community and it maintains high standards across a wide range of sporting, cultural and extra-curricular activities. Facilities are excellent: we occupy a marvellous, 100-acre site overlooking the charming village of Sutton Valence and the Weald of Kent and we possess a recently refurbished library, a new Astroturf pitch, an interactive multi-media suite and a newly restored range of Elizabethan buildings. We offer flexible boarding in smart, modernized facilities alongside generous provision for day pupils.
We are proud of our success and we welcome enquiries and visits from prospective parents and pupils.
Underhill, the Junior School to Sutton Valence, is situated in the adjoining village of Chart Sutton and educates children between the ages of three and eleven.
